Tours

Xochimilco is renowned for its charming canals and vibrant trajineras (colorful boats). As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it provides a unique experience of gliding along the canals while savoring Mexican music, cuisine, and culture.

Xochimilco is open throughout the year, so you can visit whenever you like.

In October/November, you might witness flower fields and preparations for Day of the Dead celebrations. During the dry season, from November to April, the weather is pleasant, and the canals are less crowded. However, we operate year-round, and our tours usually commence around midday to avoid any afternoon/evening showers.

We provide snacks and lunch, as well as spirits tasting. You can check each experience’s details to see what is included in the price.

Additionally, you are welcome to bring any other food and drinks on the trajinera. Remember that we provide a cooler with drinks.

Swimming is not permitted in the Xochimilco canals for safety and environmental reasons. The canals are primarily used for boat rides, and it is crucial to follow safety guidelines and respect local regulations.

Only Mexican Pesos are accepted in Xochimilco. There are no ATMs in Xochimilco, so bring extra cash for Mariachi’s and other treats you might want to buy during the ride (fresh corn, extra beer, etc.).

Reaching Xochimilco is simple by using Uber or Didi; we will send you the exact meeting instructions and location once you book. We do not recommend taking public transportation like the metro or bus since they are slower and often delayed. Additionally, the specific “Embarcadero” (dock) is not near any bus stop or metro station.

During the rainy season in Mexico City, from June to October, it typically rains after 5pm. We start our tours around midday to get ahead of the rain. If it does rain, the boats are equipped with roofs and rain curtains, so the experience remains unaffected. Showers are usually brief, lasting 20-30 minutes, and then it clears up again.

We recommend booking in advance, especially on weekends and holidays when it gets busy. Booking requests made a day or two in advance are not guaranteed, particularly for larger groups.

Xochimilco is generally safe for tourists. However, like any tourist destination, it is important to remain cautious and keep an eye on your belongings. Stick to well-known routes, and if you have any concerns, feel free to let us know.

There are restroom stops along the way (approximately every 30-40 minutes). Keep in mind that the restrooms are rustic and operated by locals.
